History of the Club
Original pencil drawing by Gina Ha’o.
The Hawai’i Island Cutting Horse Association was started in 1998 by a group of Cutting Horse enthusiasts as a performance-oriented organization, open to all breeds of horses. HICHA sponsors monthly cutting and reining events for youth and adults and culminates the year with a Big Island Cow Horse Championship. HICHA continues to thrive as one of the fastest growing horse associations on the island.
This will be HICHA’s tenth year hosting the Big Island Cow Horse Championship for the Island of Hawai’i. This show brings together the finest horses and riders from all over the state to compete in the futurity, maturity, super horse, reining and cutting events as well as other equine events whenever possible.
